This was a project that I have wanted to do for several years. I wanted to combine my love of beautiful wood, stained glass and Tiffany. This piece was inspired by the Tiffany stained glass plaques. The dragonfly's were modeled in clay then cast in zinc before being electroplated in copper and applied to the exterior. The wood body is spalted Bradford Pear, spalting is a fungus that enters the wood when it is still green and wet. The fungus eats the sugars and starches in the wood and the result is the beautiful color streaks and black lines. This is a one of a kind piece.
