This urn was created from Norfolk Island Pine which is a tree that grows in South Florida. It is prized for the branch structure that is in a concentric ring around the tree and gives a unique look to any piece that is created from it. This is a large urn that was first hollowed and then dried in the vacuum kiln to remove excess moisture. Once dry it was then returned to the lathe for additional hollowing and turned to its final shape. It was then sanded and given a 10 coat hand buffed lacquer finish. The finial was turned from pecan and ebonized black. Both the finial and body were fitted with metal gold plated threads to secure the contents. This is a truly unique urn.
